Florist Purchase Advice

Shop has been in business for over 21 years w/ excellent reputation. Gross sales are $500k a year, with no wire services. They do very few weddings and most of their income comes from an adjacent funeral home. Small town of about 11,000, thriving community. 3 florists in town, one going out of business. He wants $225,000 for the business and inventory, but not the building. How do I know if this is a good deal?

Buy the florist? My advice
by: Paul

It's difficult to tell if it a good deal without examining the financial statements. They can tell you what kind of money the owner is making and profits.

The thing that worries me the most is that the business comes from only one funeral home. What if the funeral home decides to make their own funeral arrangements? (It happened here in Fort Lauderdale and they cut out the florist.)

What if the competing florist strike a deal with the funeral home and you are cut off?
